TAL SUPPLIED KEY COMPONENTS TO FLAGSHIP
CHRISTIAN BARNARD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PROJECT IN CAPE TOWN

TAL supplied flooring underlayment materials for the Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town’s Foreshore. The materials included; TAL VaporStop HB vapour barrier and TAL Screedmaster, to combat high moisture levels within the concrete slabs and to ensure the prepared floors were smooth and level; a requirement for the installation of the Polyflor Vinyl Sheeting. Regular site visits were conducted to monitor the installation as high moisture levels in the substrate adversely affect the performance and integrity of vinyl overlayments. TAL products are manufactured locally and developed and tested to suit the South African climate conditions.

TAL PLAYS LEADING ROLE IN REFURBISHMENT OF mENLYN pARK SHOPPING CENTRE

Leading tile and construction adhesives manufacturer TAL is proud to be supplying products for upgrading existing tiled mall walkways and ablutions at the Menlyn Park refurbishment.

The project includes chipping out old tiles and replacing them with new 1.2 m by 600 mm porcelain tiles. In addition, repairs and remedial work had to be carried out to sections of the unbonded screeded substrate, which were found to be damaged after removal of the existing tiles.

TAL has a range of rapid-setting, shrinkage-compensated screeds and patching and repair compounds for fast-track repairs to existing substrates. Products used here include TAL SlabPatch, TAL Rapidfix, and TAL Screedmaster.

AT UPMARKET KYALAMI ESTATE

Expert customer service and advice, including site visits by TAL has allowed Central Developments to maintain both quality and productivity at the luxury Riverbend Estate in Kyalami, Gauteng.

Advice was given on accurate selection and use of products, correctly-constructed tile panel movement joints and recommendations for tiling to the waterproofing system which included on-site testing to ensure compatibility of the tile adhesives with the waterproofing compound.

TAL’s on-site service, gives customers the reassurance that, should anything go wrong, there is an immediate response. The proof is all in the quality and suitability of the products at the end of the day say Central Developments.

TAL plays key role in tile installation at
Krugersdorp hospital

Netcare Pinehaven Hospital in Krugersdorp features 10 000 m² of precision tiling, installed successfully using tile and construction adhesives from TAL.

The hospital features a large number of small, isolated bathrooms with drywall. The installation of glass tiles onto drywalls is prone to cracking and requires careful priming and waterproofing. Architect VDO Consulting requested TAL to complete a specification for the project.

TAL also provided the necessary training to JonRoux Tiling and Plastering Contractors, a TAL-registered tiler.

TAL products used were TAL Bond, TAL Keycoat, TAL Goldstar 6, TAL Goldstar 12, TAL Wall and Floor Grout, TAL Sealmaster 1000, TAL Floor Primer and TAL Fine Epoxy Grout.

Cresta upgrade features TAL specialist
flooring products

Specialist flooring products from TAL were used in the installation of 24 000 m² of new tiles at Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg.

TAL Goldstar 6 tile adhesive was used due to its rapid-setting properties, allowing for traffic over the newly-installed tiles after six hours.

TAL Bond was used in the adhesive mix as a total water replacement to ensure enhanced strength and flexibility for the tiling installation on the upper levels.

TAL Bond was also incorporated in the grout mix for the floors throughout the mall areas to provide a harder-wearing and more durable finish for these high-traffic areas.

Group 5 project completed using TAL products

TAL has supplied products for the installation of 6 500 m² of tiles at Group 5’s Midrand head office.

The construction products market leader specified the use of a highly-flexible adhesive system, namely TAL Goldflex mixed with TAL Bond, to ensure that the tile installations on the staircases are able to withstand the extreme conditions.

This highly-flexible adhesive system allows for increased movement, as is anticipated in the tiling to the screeded steel stair treads, landings and areas surrounding the staircases. A suspended link bridge was also tiled using TAL Goldflex and TAL Bond, while tile panel movement joints were located at 1.8 m intervals.
